Claiming Dependence | Paradox of Power
Week 2 | The Antidote to Temptation
Struggle, valleys, pain, limitations, weakness — these aren’t setbacks to hide from. They’re actually opportunities for God’s power to be put on display, and for you to grow. You don’t have to carry the weight of life. You were never supposed to.
That truth is the antidote to temptation itself: dependency on God, not self-reliance. In 1 Corinthians 10:13, we’re promised that no temptation is beyond what we can bear, because God always provides a way out. In Matthew 4, we see it lived out — Jesus, in the wilderness, faces temptation not by relying on His own strength, but by leaning fully on the Word of God. And in 2 Corinthians 1:8-11, Paul describes being pressed beyond his own ability to endure — so that he wouldn’t rely on himself, but on the God who raises the dead.
The weight was never meant to be yours to carry alone.
